Portendo signs distribution agreement for the P.Eye-S Standoff Explosives Trace Detection System with Thailand's SWN Group.

Portendo AB, the leader in standoff explosive detection equipment has expanded its global sales and support network by signing a distribution agreement with the SWN Group, based in Bangkok, Thailand, to market and sell the 'P.Eye-S standoff explosives trace detection system'

The Portendo P.Eye-S Standoff Explosives Trace Detection System uses Raman Spectroscopy to identify traces of explosives. The P.Eye-S' primary application is to prevent vehicle-borne IEDs by screening vehicles in a vehicle checkpoint.

The product works by aiming a laser beam at a particular area on the target vehicle. The reflected light is then collected and analysed using the Raman scattering method. This then provides a unique molecular signature enabling selective identification. The particles are then compared and identified against an existing database of substances.

The P.Eye-S can detect and identify a wide range of explosive trace substances of as little as a few micrograms and works at ranges of 2 - 5 metres. The system if operated remotely, dramatically increases the security and safety of law enforcement and border personnel as they perform their duties.

"Following a demonstration of 'P.Eye technology' last year to Military and Authorities in Thailand, and the keen interest shown, this distribution agreement has come at a perfect time to be able to have people on the ground in the region." said Gunilla Savring, CEO of Portendo. "With their long experience in the region as well as in the industry, SWN Group will be a great local partner for us."

Jose Kuruvilla, Director of SWN Group said "We have been working for more than two decades with military and civil security products in Thailand and it is clear, with the severe terror threat from inside the region, that novel explosives detection technology is needed to mitigate the terror threat. We are delighted to become the representative of Portendo's explosives detection equipment and we firmly believe it has a great market potential in the region."

The first Portendo P.Eye-S will be delivered later this year.
