L-3 Communications Infrared Products is a leading producer of commercial infrared thermal imaging cameras and technology for fire and rescue, military, Homeland Security, public safety and transportation applications. Infrared Products introduced the first low-cost, uncooled infrared imager for commercial public safety applications in 1995.
L-3 Infrared Products is a division of L-3 Communications, founded in 1997 and led by Chairman and CEO, Frank Lanza. Infrared Products is one of eight Electro-Optical/Infrared (EO/IR) divisions focusing on specialized products for a variety of markets.
Our growing portfolio includes handhelds, mobile/vehicle-mounted units, fixed position security cameras and imaging cores. These lightweight, low power imaging cores are used by Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to develop into their own finished camera by adding unique hardware, software or packaging. The product portfolio is based on two dominate technologies offered by L-3 Infrared Products- amorphous silicon (aSi) and Barium Strontium Titanate (BST).
L-3 Infrared Products works with a distribution channel of extremely qualified and experienced distributors and dealers both domestically and abroad. Infrared Products also works closely with OEM partners to develop high quality imaging cores for inclusion in unique end products distributed through the OEM channel.
A host of unique thermal imaging solutions has been developed by L-3 specifically for the Security market and is designed to meet a number of needs.
The Thermal-Eye 2400xp is a dual sensor security and surveillance camera that offers pan and tilt capability. It provides full motion detection both day and night with the use of dual sensors (high resolution CCD camera and Gold-Standard BST thermal imaging camera). Optional GUI software helps users define regions of interest, automatically detect motion or set off an alarm. The 2400xp is immune to solar radiation and integrates easily with existing security architecture.
A number of handheld cameras are also available to supplement security. The Thermal-Eye X200xp is one of the smallest, lightest and most rugged handheld cameras on the market today. It utilizes low power with two AA batteries and can detect activity up to 450 meter away. Its advanced design allows users to operate surveillance activities covertly and while on the run. The X200 utilizes 160x120 amorphous silicon microbolometer detector technology.
The Thermal-Eye 250D is another handheld offering from L-3. This popular handheld thermal imager provides high-resolution imaging and added features and functionality like 2X digital zoom and polarity switching. This tried and true camera utilizes Gold-Standard BST imaging technology and offers 320x240 resolution.
L-3 also has a thermal imaging solution for mobile security activity. The Thermal-Eye 4000B is the leading vehicle-mounted thermal imaging solution available today. Its 360 pan and tilt functionality allows users to operate the camera from inside the safety of the vehicle; while monitoring suspicious activity outside. A marine version is also available, ruggedized for a salt water environment.
