THE BRITTEN-NORMAN DEFENDER GOES OPERATIONAL WITH SPECIALIST SELEX S&AS INTEGRATED MISSION SENSOR SUITE (IMSS).

November 2005 marked the successful integration of the SELEX Sensors & Airborne Systems Integrated Mission Sensor Suite (IMSS) and the Britten-Norman 2T Defender Aircraft. This combination not only offers the benefits of the Defender
aircraft with low loiter speeds, long range endurance and low signature noise, but now also includes the superior image quality of the SELEX S&AS IMSS.
The fully operational, integrated aircraft was completed and available for demonstrations within 4 months.

For Britten-Norman this is an important milestone in the development of the Defender 4000e, a variant of the already successful Defender 4000 surveillance aircraft. The Defender 4000e variant provides specialist capabilities for coastal surveillance, marine counter terrorism, EEZ management and other special missions.

"With the Defender's proven track record in Coast Guard, Exclusive Economic Zones and Maritime Patrol operations, it is not difficult to see why it is a perfect platform for
the integrated mission sensor suite. With significantly reduced vibration compared to that offered by helicopters, the Defender provides markedly reduced image "shake
degradation.
