Wagtail UK Awarded Further 5 Year UK Border Force Contract
Wagtail UK have again been awarded the highly sought after contract to provide Live Body Detection dog teams at ports in Northern France by UK Border Force, European Operations.
The 5 year contract commenced in March 2015 and follows on from the current contract that Wagtail was awarded in December 2008.
Wagtail UK's Live Body Detection Dogs are trained to detect the presence of human scent concealed in or on freight and vehicles leaving Northern France bound for the UK. Since the start of the contract in 2008 the teams have detected Illegal immigrants in numerous, unusual hiding places including car parts, machinery, foodstuffs, in refrigerated vehicles, car transporters and in tankers.
Wagtail UK are the only private company providing body detection dogs to the UK Border Force, the teams have helped tighten UK border controls at juxtaposed ports. The dog teams work with alongside Border Force officials, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year - providing a service that has saved the UK taxpayer hundreds of millions of pounds in cost avoidance.
Wagtail UK have been working with Border Force for over six years and throughout this time, we have provided some world class capability in supporting Border Force officers to detect clandestine migrants attempting to reach the UK. This service has been recognised by the Director General of Border Force, Sir Charles Montgomery and Chairman of the Home Affairs Select Committee, Keith Vaz MP.
