Smiths Detection Wins Major Order from Emirates for Dubai World Central
Smiths Detection, a global leader in providing government regulated systems to detect CBRNE threats, has successfully installed a range of advanced detection equipment for Emirates Group Security at its facility in Dubai World Central, a purpose-built economic support zone around the new AI Maktoum International Airport.
As part of this Multi-million Dirhams contract, Smiths Detection supplied four dual view HI-SCAN 180180-300kV-2is, medium energy X-ray cargo inspection system for pallets and LD-3 airfreight containers, two dual view HI-SCAN 100100T-2is, for screening oversized baggage and bulky freight, and two HI-SCAN 7555si systems. The HI-SCAN 180180-2is scanners are connected via a dedicated compact server provided by Smiths Detection allowing central storage as required by Emirates and Dubai Airports.
The cargo screening developed for this facility also includes centralized monitoring, where an operator dedicated to each machine works in a closed, isolated central control room analyzing the images with minimum distractions. This solution complements Emirates Group Security'slayered aviation security regime approach.

In order to meet application requirements of the newly built cargo handling facility, the HI-SCAN 180180-300kV-2ismedium energy (300 kV) X-ray cargo inspection system is equipped with tunnel dimensions of 1800mm width and 1800mm height to meet the needs of airports and customs facilities where high security and total screening is required.
Equipped with a dual view facility and a low conveyor belt, the HI-SCAN 100100T-2is allows operators to handle heavy objects and containers with ease and shortens inspection times. The HI-SCAN 100100T-2is also includes the new HI-MAT Plus technology, which displays more accurate and better material distinction.
