British Army gets new chemical detector

The Lightweight Chemical Agent Detector (LCAD), the latest chemical warfare agent detection equipment for UK troops, has been accepted into service by the Ministry of Defence (MoD). Smiths Detection at Watford will now begin deliveries under a contract worth some £20 million. LCAD is a small detector worn by troops without inhibiting mobility. With the Manportable Chemical Agent Detector (MCAD), also from Smiths Detection, LCAD forms a two-tier battlefield detection system.
