G4S wins ground-breaking Austrian Government contract

G4S, the leading global security and outsourcing group, has announced today that it has won a contract to run an immigration removal centre for the Austrian Government. This is the first time that the government in Vienna has outsourced such a centre to a private company.

G4S will be the main supplier at the newly constructed facility in the city of Vordernberg which has the immigration removal centre contract with the Austrian Ministry of the Interior. The deal is worth 68m €uros in total turnover for G4S.

G4S will employ approximately 100 staff at the centre providing security and care services for up to 200 detainees awaiting deportation to their countries of origin in a contract that will extend for a minimum of 15 years. G4S will also deliver on-site catering, medical care and cleaning.

Dr Matthias Wechner, managing director of G4S Secure Solutions, Austria, said: "We are delighted to have been selected to run the Vordenberg Immigration Removal Centre. It marks a new venture for G4S in Austria.

"This is the first outsourced Government contract of its type, and we are looking forward to delivering cost-effective high class services at the centre, and building on a strong relationship that we have developed with the Government."
