Smiths Detection Supplies Explosives Detectors to Canadian Airports
Smiths Detection has started delivery of more than 100 advanced explosives trace detection systems to the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA).
Deployment of the IONSCAN 500DTs at a number of Canadian airports is due to be completed later this month. The desktop systems will complement Smiths Detection's advanced X-ray scanners, already used by most Canadian airports to scan hand luggage at security checkpoints.

The IONSCAN 500DT analyses a swab sample to check surfaces of items for a wide range of trace explosives and narcotics. Smiths Detection has supplied more than 24,000 trace systems worldwide for corrections, court security, aviation security, and force protection.
