L-3 TRL Technology2012-04-23 11:48:18

Gloucestershire-based defence manufacturer L-3 TRL announced today the launch of its new discreet counter-RCIED vehicle system at the Counter Terror Expo 2012 in Olympia, London, 25¬-26 April.

Building on its previous success at the show, L-3 TRL will be showcasing its new integrated vehicle system, which provides lifesaving protection against radio-controlled IEDs for military, law enforcement and civilian personnel worldwide.

"Counter Terror Expo is the perfect platform to launch our new vehicle counter-RCIED system," explained Richard Flitton, L-3 TRL vice president and head of its Electronic Warfare division. "Finding effective countermeasures that protect personnel and assets from RCIEDs continues to be a key priority for many defence, security and law enforcement organisations around the world, and we are expecting our new discreet vehicle system to generate a lot of interest at the show."

Based on the award-winning BROADSHIELD® portfolio of electronic jammers, the new vehicle system has been designed to fit inside a vehicle spare wheel recess, providing hidden protection against a wide range of radio frequencies used to detonate IEDs. As the threat from these devices continues to rise worldwide, this latest innovation provides an ideal solution for VVIP security or law enforcement personnel, where a discreet, low-power vehicle solution is required.
The hardware units can be installed within most commercial vehicle platforms and operate on a standard 12V vehicle supply without requiring power modifications. Counter Terror Expo delegates will be able to see the system on the L-3 stand, F100, where the L-3 TRL team will be available to advise on the optimum configuration for a range of requirements.
