Associated British Ports Southampton purchase RESON SeaBat 7101 system

Associated British Ports Southampton have awarded RESON a contract to supply a SeaBat 7101 multibeam sonar system. RESON will install and train ABP Southampton Hydrographic Survey personnel in the use of the system and associated sensors. RESON will be intergrating the system onboard the Port Survey Launch ’Protector’ along with an Applanix POS MV WaveMaster. The multibeam survey system will be used for shallow water Hydrographic and Engineering surveys in Southampton.

The RESON SeaBat 7101 offers a number of new and unique features. The new top side transceiver provides an integrated multiport serial card and is available with data acquisition with display as well as data processing on the same hardware platform. Four video outputs allow multiple survey and helm displays to be run. Roll stabilization and variable swath coverage of up to 150° featuring at an operating frequency of 240kHz offers a preferred combination of swath and resolution.

A real-time uncertainty output from the SeaBat 7101 may be used in RESON PDS2000 data acquisition software, along with information from other sensors to calculate a TPE (Total Propagated Error). Soundings may be filtered by setting either the relevant IHO order or by defining a custom vertical error limit. Other new features in SeaBat 7101 include quality filter and advanced diagnostic which increase survey efficiency. Further, AutoPilot uses sonar tuning values from a default or user generated look-up table for hands free sonar operation.

Mr William Heaps, Assiatant Marine Advisor & Hydrographic Manager for Associated British Ports comments “The use of the SeaBat systems are ideally suited to the port environment, and with RESON’s proven and trusted record we look forward to continuing and further expanding our professional working relationship together."

Ms Mairi Forrest, RESON “We are delighted that ABP Southampton have chosen RESON for their multibeam re-quirements. We look forward to supporting them and adding them to our family of professional Hydrographic users in the UK."
