Barco releases new three-chip DLP projector for 3D and simulation

Barco, a world leader in professional visualization, has recently released the Galaxy NW-7 projector. This three-chip DLP, 7000 lumens projector with WUXGA (1920x1200) resolution is designed for high-resolution, multi-channel setups, such as domes and immersive systems. Its active 3D stereo capabilities are aimed at applications in scientific research and virtual design, while its smearing reduction makes it an attractive choice for simulated fast-jet training. Both applications typically use multi-projector systems.
Barco's Galaxy NW-7 is an extension of the company's existing portfolio of Galaxy projectors that also includes a high-brightness version, the Galaxy NW-12. Like the Galaxy NW-12, the Galaxy NW-7 is a three-chip DLP projector with a WUXGA (1920x1200) resolution. However, its 7,000 lumens light output makes it more suitable for mid-level setups.

Its Xenon lamp technology offers a saturated and stable color spectrum over time. Combined with its brightness equalization, warping capabilities and rigid design the Galaxy NW-7 becomes ideally suitable for high demanding systems environments. Its stability is further highlighted by its improved liquid cooling and filterless design, which helps extending the projector's lifetime significantly. In addition, the projector supports both electronic and optical blending to ensure one composite image free of disturbances and blurry overlap zones.

As an active 3D stereo projector, Barco's Galaxy NW-7 is aimed at markets that require exact 3D data display, such as the oil and gas industry's exploration and production segments, or virtual prototyping in the automotive sector. In rooms that need just a single projector, the Galaxy NW-7's compatibility with Barco's XDS Control Center turns the display into a collaborative canvas. On a familiar Windows desktop, users can control various sources, exchange data and participate in video conferencing with just mouse and keyboard.

For simulation and training applications, the Galaxy NW-7 offers additional advantages. The Galaxy NW-7's brightness level is an ideal match for larger dome surfaces. Its smearing reduction technology ensures that fast-moving objects in jet and helicopter training are represented realistically. In combination with the projector's high resolution, it guarantees a precise and convincing image at all times.
