RESON awarded contract for an integrated Sonar Multi-beam System

Fisheries Research Services (FRS) recently awarded RESON Aberdeen the contract to deliver a fully inte-grated multi-beam sonar system to be installed on their vessel FRV Scotia.

The RESON SeaBat 7125 Sonar System operates with a dual frequency of 200kHz or 400kHz with an effective swath angle of 128Ëš and a very high resolution of down to 5mm due to its beam forming capabilities 0.5Ëšx1.0Ëš. The depth range is 300m and is thus ideal for the Scottish part of the North Sea and the Atlantic. Combined with the RESON PDS2000 acquisition software and Applanix POS MV Wavemaster navigation package this is an effective way to obtain high resolution seabed data.

Robert McLeod, the Procurement Team Leader in the awarding document stated: "Reson submitted a very good bid which was judged by our Selection Panel to be technically competent and reasonably priced. The Selection Panel was unanimous in recommending that the contract should be awarded to Reson Offshore.

RESON software PDS2000 will acquire all the data on monitors and update the models for the fishery research operation.

Both system installation and calibration will be preformed by RESON and local engineers in April 2009.
