American Science and Engineering, Inc. Announces $2 Million Contract from the U.S. Government for ZBVs
ZBVs to be Utilized Overseas for Force Protection Applications

American Science and Engineering, Inc. (AS&E®), a leader in X-ray detection technology, announced today the receipt of a $2 million order from the U.S. government for two Z Backscatter Vansâ„¢ (ZBVâ„¢). The ZBVs will be used to scan vehicles for explosives before entering a secure high-threat facility. The ZBVs will also be configured for harsh environments and remote operation in stationary scan mode.

"This latest order from the U.S. government reaffirms the value of the ZBV to secure U.S. government high-threat facilities around the world," said Anthony Fabiano, AS&E President and CEO. "We are proud to continue working closely with the U.S. government to meet their detection and performance requirements to uncover dangerous explosive threats. With proprietary Z Backscatter technology, the ZBV offers unparalleled mobility and flexibility for rapid bomb detection, making it the number-one selling mobile X-ray screening system on the market today."

AS&E's Z Backscatter Vanâ„¢: The Most Maneuverable, Versatile Mobile Screening System on the Market
A breakthrough in X-ray detection technology, AS&E's Z Backscatter Van is the Number One selling non-intrusive mobile inspection system on the market. ZBV is a low-cost, highly mobile screening system built into a commercially available delivery van. The ZBV allows for immediate deployment in response to security threats, and its high throughput capability facilitates rapid inspections. The system's unique "drive-by" capability allows one or two operators to conduct X-ray imaging while the ZBV drives past suspect vehicles and objects. For personnel safety in dangerous environments, a remote console is available for operating the system in stationary mode from a distance of up to 500 meters.
