Warm as Toast with MCSS HOT STUFF
The new modular sleeping system designed by BCB International Ltd, Cardiff has recently been proven to be significantly warmer, smaller and lighter than the in service Arctic Sleeping Bag, according to the Hohenstein Institute in Germany.
BCB International in partnership with Carinthia of Austria have over the last three years designed and developed the new Modular Combat Sleeping System (MCSS) in close liaison with the British Ministry of Defence.
The two bag system gives greater flexibility than the single bag system in that it can be used from extreme Arctic cold conditions to warm desert conditions. Making it ideal for use in Afghanistan where the range of temperatures are extreme.
So superb were the test results from the Hohenstein Institute, they even surprised August Mayer, Chief of Carinthia Bags
"It is the first time we can compare apples with apples. Comparing our MCS System with the in service Arctic sleeping bag, we are truly amazed the vast difference in performance between the two systems"
August has been manufacturing military sleeping bags for over 25 years, and is widely regarded as one of the leading experts in the World for Military sleeping bags.
"Even comparing the Arctic sleeping bag to just one part of the MCS system, the outer bag, our bag was almost 15oc warmer, at the extreme test. Yet it was 3 cubic litres smaller and over 300gms lighter"
According to Andrew Howell of BCB International.
"Having said that, our MCSS bag is longer, wider, and will give a much better in service life than the Arctic bag" continued Andrew.
