ATLAS complete Sea trials for South African Navy

The Bremen-based company ATLAS ELEKTRONIK has brought the submarine programme for the South African Navy to a successful close. The third and last combat management system of the type ISUS 90-45 was successfully tested in sea trials on board the "SAS Queen Modjadji" and consequently accepted by the South African Navy.

ATLAS ELEKTRONIK is a contractor for Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft GmbH (HDW), a member of ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems, which has delivered a total of three submarines of the Class 209/1400mod equipped with systems by ATLAS ELEKTRONIK to South Africa within the scope of a naval modernization programme.

The acceptance test took place at the end of January off the coast of Kristiansand, Norway. The two systems already delivered have been giving good service since September and November 2005 respectively.
