U.S. NAVY AWARDS BAE SYSTEMS $298 MILLION CONTRACT FOR AEGIS SUPPORT
The U.S. Navy has awarded BAE SYSTEMS a $298 million contract for continued support of the Navy's Aegis Combat System. Under the contract, the company's Applied Technologies business will provide systems engineering, test and evaluation, integrated logistics, and programme management support to the AEGIS Technical Representative (AEGIS TECHREP), Moorestown, New Jersey.
BAE SYSTEMS, as prime contractor to the AEGIS TECHREP, will provide engineering and technical support to independently assess and validate total ship combat system design for U.S. and Foreign Military Sales. This will be accomplished by providing a means for the conduct of engineering development, testing, and evaluation; monitoring production of and accepting the AEGIS Weapon System (AWS); integrating and testing combat systems equipment and computer programmes; and evaluating operational suitability. The company will support TECHREP in the day-to-day technical management, direction, and oversight of the delegated AEGIS programme manager's requirements at the prime AWS contractor site (Lockheed Martin Naval Electronics and Surveillance Systems, Moorestown, New Jersey.) and its subcontractors. Oversight management of the AWS contractor's depot operations and operational evaluation is also supported under this contract.

Work will be completed by November 2012 and will be performed by BAE SYSTEMS Applied Technologies personnel at Moorestown, and five subcontractors, including Northrop Grumman Information Technologies; Anteon; Thomas Enterprises, Inc; Basic Commerce Industries; and VSE.
