Turkey will mount a national pavilion at the show Dubai 2005

Dubai 2005, the ninth international aerospace exhibition, has notched up another ‘first’ with news that Turkey will mount a national pavilion at the show, taking place this November.

“This initiative is a result of increasing interest in the Middle East among Turkey’s emerging aerospace sector, said Feyzan Erel, Managing Director of Omni, the Ankara-based agent for the show, who is organising the pavilion.

“The Turkish aerospace industry traditionally exhibits at the Paris and Farnborough air shows, but the Middle East is now becoming key because of the opportunities thrown up by massive regional expansion, said Erel.

“Aircraft component manufacture and maintenance is a growth sector in Turkey and these companies are keen to take seize opportunities in a market so close.

Four Turkish exhibitors took part in Dubai 2003, but with a national pavilion, Erel is confident of a stronger country showing. Turkish Airlines’ technical department and aerospace group MNG have already taken space.

Turkey is one of 13 national and industry pavilions already confirmed for the air show and Fairs & Exhibitions’ (F&E), organiser of Dubai 2005, is currently carrying out a feasibility study into adding a simulator and training pavilion. Presently, exhibitors from 28 countries have committed to Dubai 2005.

Alison Weller, Project Manager, F&E, said: “More than 80 per cent of floor space has already been booked for Dubai 2005 in spite of the fact that building the third hall – Central Hall – has added 10,000 square metres to the show.

“Specialist pavilions are proving particularly popular, with commitments coming in earlier than in the past, reflecting the growing importance of the Middle East aerospace industry, said Weller. “We are currently negotiating over a number of new pavilions and are set to have a record number this year.
