SAIC to Provide Integrated Security Systems (ISS) in Support of the BEP Office of Acquisition, Information Technology (IT) and Services Contracting Division

MCLEAN, Va., June 11, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) [NYSE: SAI] announced today it was awarded a prime contract by the U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) to provide an enterprise level, Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12(HSPD-12) compliant Integrated Security System (ISS) in support of the BEP Office of Acquisition, Information Technology (IT) and Services Contracting Division. The single-award blanket purchase agreement (BPA) has a five-year period of performance and a total contract value of approximately $17 million. Work will be performed primarily in Washington, D.C., McLean, Va., and Forth Worth, TX.

The BEP designs and produces a variety of security products for the United States government, including currency for the Federal Reserve. BEP operates two currency manufacturing facilities in Washington, D.C. and Forth Worth, each with independent legacy security systems. Under the contract, SAIC will provide an ISS for BEP to replace the core physical security systems with a common technology platform that is both site independent and capable of back-up disaster recovery purposes. SAIC will provide design, replacement, installation, upgrade, maintenance and support of the new security system for physical and logical access to computers and networks.

"We look forward to assisting BEP in evaluating their existing security systems and developing recommendations for a new enterprise system to enable a common technology platform that is site independent, while also providing redundancy for disaster recovery purposes," said John Thomas, SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager.
